General Information
Research Associates of America (RAA) (the former Food and Allied Service Trades, AFL-CIO (FAST)) internships offer a unique opportunity for young people to gain direct experience in the labor movement.
We are recognized as the pioneers in the use of strategic research for union fights against corporations and are frequently asked to train union locals around the country. Out interns learn research skills that are in great demand in the labor movement and the training we offer at RAA-FAST is highly regarded.
Internships
Internships are for the duration of at least 10-14 weeks and pay a $250 per-week stipend. Full time or a minimum availability of 25 hours per week is preferred. This internship would be ideal for a student participating in their school's Washington semester program.
Opportunities for other campaigns in retail, hotels, meatpacking and airlines are also available year-round.
Interns' responsibilities include research focused on gathering and analyzing information on private and public corporations. Research is used to assist affiliated unions in organizing and bargaining programs. RAA research is based on a wide range of sources including the Internet, CD data information sources, publications and publicly available information from a host of government sources.
